Club Fishing days: Any cancellations, members will be contacted by email.

  1. All members must abide by MPI regulations. Remember if you travel out of our zone area MPI rules could change so please check first.
  2. All fish to be gilled and gutted except Sharks,gurnard and eels
  3. Club Lengths Seniors: Snapper, Trevally and Gurnard is 30 cms. Yellow Eyed Mullet and Kahawai 35cms. No more than 3 Kingfish per day 75cms. All other species not named 30cms.
  4. All Junior and Midget: 30cms. NOTE: We don’t weighin Stingrays or Hiwihiwi. All Fish must be in a clean state otherwise will not be weighed.
  5. A more competent member may cast for others for the first year, thereafter must cast their own rod. Lessons are available for anyone wanting tuition.
  6. If you think you have a record fish it may be weighted in green but must be gutted for points
  7. Tackle: Only Rods and Handlines are permitted. No using surfboards, swimming, kites, balloons, kontiki’s or bait mortars to take lines out. NO SPINNING.
  8. Live Baiting and Soft Bait Fishing are permitted.
  9. In the event of a tie the first fish weighed in shall take the prize.
  10. Prizes: Vouchers from rod fees for Heaviest Snapper, Kahawai, Trevally and other, Ladies and Junior Prize providing there is enough for all categories. The rod fees will determine how many prizes go out otherwise there will be a draw.
  11. Rock Fishing: You can only fish during daylight hours for your own safety.
  12. If you intend in going over private property please get permission from the owner.
  13. Boundaries: Are from the Ohiwa harbour on the Whakatane side 200mtrs from the mouth to the Kereu River at Te Kaha. Anyone fishing outside these areas shall receive a warning and no points will be awarded for that weekends fishing.
  14. NO FISHING WITHIN 200MTRS OF THE MOTU RIVER MOUTH.
  15. Daily bag limits: 7 Snapper, 3 Kingfish, plus a total of 20 fin fish.
  16. Fishing before start time: you will be denied of points and prizes for a first offence, thereafter will be dismissed from the club.
  17. Only financial members will be eligible for points. Members on the 3 free club fishing weekends trial will get points recorded until subs paid.
  18. PLEASE DON’T LITTER THE BEACHES, TAKE IT HOME WITH YOU.
  19. Club Weekend fishing starts at 5am Saturdays with final weighin closing at 10am Sunday.
