Oruanui Pony club is situated on the corner of Poihipi road and Oruanui Road. It is home to great facilities with a sand arena, two Show Jumping courses, Games equipment and a large range of cross country jumps (from pre-intro through to pre-novice/open) in the Cross country paddock. The grounds are available to use at any time for Oruanui pony club members (unless closed before an Event).
We also take in ground users for those who do not want to belong to the club (Adult riders and non-pony club members).
At Oruanui pony club we provide a safe learning environment for young riders to learn to ride and learn to take care of their ponies. We have regular rallies (where riders are put into groups of equal ability and are coached for around an hour and a half). Rallies are generally on a Saturday at 10 am or during the week after school.
We run many events over the season (August to March) such as Gymkhanas, One Day Events, Show jumping Days, Show Hunter, Dressage days and other fun days. Most of these events are open to outsiders but some are for members only. There are a huge amount of opportunities to represent our club or Taupo District at team events such as Timberlands Team event, BOP Gymkhana champs, BOP Showjumping Champs, BOP Dressage champs, BOP Gymkhana Champs, North Island Show jumping champs, Show Hunter champs and Games (BOP and Zones).
Our goal at Oruanui Pony is to provide a safe learning environment were young people can learn to ride and take care of their ponies. We want to encourage young people to get involved and become the best they can be.
