Batting all-rounder, Josh Finnie, and bowling all-rounder, Travis Muller have secured the last two remaining contracts for the Otago Volts 2021/22 season.

Finnie, a white-ball specialist hailing from Dunedin, joins the Otago Volts contract list for his sixth time. The former NZ U19 Captain’s ball-striking ability, combined with the ability to dominate games with the bat, made him an exciting prospect for Coach Dion Ebrahim.

“Josh had a challenging 2020/21 season. At the age of 24 he is still learning and growing at this level, and we believe this is just the beginning for him. We are hopeful that the challenges Josh faced last summer can catapult him to greater things” said Ebrahim.

“Josh has an ability with the bat that excites me and puts fear in opposition teams, I am very excited to assist in nurturing this talent” Ebrahim continued.

Travis Muller is a name familiar to Otago fans, having represented the Volts in eight ‘First-Class’ matches, five ‘List A’, and two Super Smash matches. Originally hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, Muller boasts an impressive bowling record for South African domestic team, Western Province, totalling close to 100 First-Class wickets.

Muller has been a consistent performer throughout Otago’s Pathways, putting together impressive performances at Club, Provincial A, and First-Class levels.

“Travis’s desire to play professionally for Otago and win games is infectious. He is a tough competitor who will add to our bowling attack and bring a steeliness to our unit” remarked Ebrahim.

Travis Muller joins Angus McKenzie & Jake Gibson as newly contracted players to the Otago Volts group.

The Volts will begin their official pre-season preparations for the 2021/22 summer on September 1.
