Suzie Bates has donned the black jersey of the White Ferns on a number of occasions, however - today was a little different.
Her selection in this mornings' 3rd T20I against England saw her become the first White Fern to reach 250 International Appearances! She is the most capped White Fern ever in T20 Internationals, and sits third to only Sara McGlashan and Amy Satterthwaite in ODI's.
The milestone came as a suprise to Bates, who was notified of the achievement in the lead up to this morning’s fixture.
"To play one game for my country was a dream come true." said Bates.
"To think that now I have represented the White Ferns over 250 times is hard to believe!" she continued.
Suzie boasts records for the most careers runs by a White Fern, having scored 7,700+ runs across women's ODI & T20I formats. In addition, she sits as the 3rd highest wicket-taker in T20I's, and 4th highest wicket taker in ODI's!
For Bates', today’s milestone gave her opportunity to reflect on her career, and to those who have assisted on her journey.
"Milestones like this make you sit back and reflect on the people who have been there to support you through thick and thin and allow you to do your thing on the park."
"My Teammates, Coaches, Managers, Family & Friends have all kept a smile on my face through the years and have contributed to the love I have for this sport and for this team (White Ferns). I can't thank them enough!" Bates concluded.
