Social Sailing Saturdays - Join Us for Fun on the Water!

Every Saturday afternoon, starting at 1:30 PM, we invite you to come and enjoy our social sailing sessions. To make the most of the day, please plan to arrive by 1:00 PM to allow ample time to prepare your boat and help club members to rig their boats. These gatherings are an excellent opportunity to connect with others who share your passion for sailing, whether you’re a seasoned sailor or just starting out.

Our sessions are informal, with plenty of flexibility to cater to everyone's interests. Members are welcome to bring their own boats, or you can take advantage of the club boats available for members' use. If you find yourself feeling the chill on winter days, don't forget to dress in layers to stay warm and comfortable while out on the water.

The activities during our sailing sessions will vary depending on the weather conditions and the interests of the participants present on the day. On certain weeks, we’ll kick things off with an exciting race that launches promptly at 1:30 PM. Therefore, arriving by 1:00 PM is crucial to ensure you're fully prepared and ready to sail. Typically, members begin gathering around 1:00 PM at the Trailer Yacht Park, where we’ll go over our plans for the afternoon.

If weather conditions are unfavorable and we need to cancel our sailing plans, we will post a notice on our Facebook page by around 11:00 AM. Please keep in mind that notifications may arrive after this time, so it's wise to check for updates if you're unsure.

After cleaning up the boats and any equipment used, we typically have a debrief in the clubrooms around 4:00 PM. We encourage everyone to participate in this debrief, as it's a wonderful way to conclude our day together. This is not just an opportunity to discuss what went well and what we might improve, but also a chance to share stories, enjoy some light refreshments, and strengthen our camaraderie as a sailing community.

Our first Winter Social Sailing event was held yesterday, 2 May, and what a great start to the winter season!

Although the wind was light, it was a beautiful day on the water, and we had a fantastic turnout, with four boats sailing, three club members enjoying time out on a club boat, and a total of 14 people taking part.

Winter Social Sailing will continue every Saturday throughout the winter months, with boats heading out from 1.30 pm, or on some weekends, a planned race will be organized.

Whether you are an experienced sailor, keen for a casual sail, or would like to come along and crew, everyone is welcome. We have club boats available and there are always opportunities to join fellow members on their boats.

After sailing, the club bar will be open from 4.00 pm to 6.00pm, making it the perfect chance to warm up, catch up, and enjoy a drink in our Club Rooms
