Q & A with local born All Black 7s Rugby Sensation Etene Nanai-Seturo


My name is Etene Nanai-Seturo, 20 years of age. Brought up in Otara.Younger brother of Aliseturo Nanai Matamua and Fanuatele Nanai Seturo current Premier players for the Otara Scorpions 

What was it like for you growing up in Otara?

- Very humbling, have some great memories in Otara. Attended Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate (2008-2012) our family still living in Otara. In my early years I use too think Otara was the only place that existed. Just a Samoan kid proud too be from Otara.

What clubs did you play before becoming a professional Rugby player?

- First club was for Otara then made a switch to play for Otahuhu Leopards. My last league game was with Mangere East for a year to play with my close mates from school. Switched codes (rugby) when I started high school at Saint Kentigern College.

Where are you now?

- I am currently playing for the Waikato Chiefs & New Zealand 7s

What is your message for our future who aspire to be where you are today?

- Dream big & work hard. Keep pushing yourself too be better each day/week. Work when no one is watching behind closed doors. Lastly Have fun & do you.
