Get ready for an action-packed season of Future Ferns 2026! We are so excited to see our young stars back on the court, developing their skills, making new friends, and having a blast with Ōtorohanga Netball.
Here is everything you need to know for the upcoming season:
The Game Day Vibe
Fridays are all about the game! We want our tamariki to focus on playing hard and having fun.
When: Every Friday afternoon.
Start Time: 4:00 PM.
Where: Ōtorohanga Netball Centre.
Format: * Years 1 & 2: 4 vs 4 on a 1/3 size court—perfect for developing those fundamental movement and ball skills.
Years 3 & 4: 5 vs 5 on a 2/3 size court, focusing on positions (2x Attacking, 1x Centre, 2x Defending) and getting plenty of touches on the ball.
Skills & Development
To keep Friday afternoons focused on the excitement of the game, skills will be taught in your own time.
Weekly Focus: We will post "Skill Focus" resources at the start of each week so teams can practice specific movements like passing, shooting, or pivoting before they hit the court.
Support for Coaches: A Coaches Handbook will be provided, and a workshop will be held (date TBC) to help everyone feel confident on the sidelines.

Quick Tips for Whānau
Sportsmanship: Each week, teams will award a "Player of the Day" to someone from the opposing team to celebrate great sportsmanship.
Stay Updated: Check the Ōtorohanga Netball Centre website for the weekly draw and court allocations. Cancellations will be posted on their Facebook page.
