When you start Taekwondo the first thing that you may notice is all the different belt colours that are being worn.
A white belt shows that the student is new (white signifes puritiy) and an emptiness of something that has yet to develop.
A yellow belt is the seed that is growing (the student has been taught by the Instructor).
Green belt - is the tree growing (the student's knowledge is growing ).
Blue belt - the tree starts grow up towards the sky as the plant matures.
Brown belt - signifies the trunk of the tree as techniques become more powerful.
Each belt colour in Pacific Sun Taekwondo has a stripe added to it before the student moves on to the next belt colour (e:g - white belt with a yellow tip grade before they gain a full yellow belt).
This continues up to black tip level (1st Kup) when if the student has reached the set standard they will be awarded their black belt.
Black belt - ( First Dan ) the opposite of white belt indicates the wearer's imperviousness to darkness and fear.
Most students will take up to two and a half years to reach 1st Dan.
When the Master Instructor feels the student is ready they may be taught their next set of Dan Patterns.
There are nine Dan Levels in Pacific Sun Taekwondo.
