The game of bowls is so steeped in history that no one knows it exact origins. However early Greek, Egyptian, Roman and English paintings suggest that some form of bowling existed long before the establishment in 1299 at Southampton of the oldest Bowling Green known in England .
In New Zealand the game was introduced in 1861 with the establishment of the Auckland Bowling Club, the oldest club outside of Britain.
The Papakura Bowling Club has a long proud history being the one of the first bowling clubs established in the Auckland area all the way back in 1905.
Throughout its 100 plus years it has always been a very competitive Club and has provided New Zealand Representatives and National Championship title holders.
