SURF LIFEGUARD / PATROL SUPPORT AWARD
To be able to take part you must fulfil the following criteria:
14 years old at the exam date
Be able to comfortably swim 400m in under 9 minutes continuously freestyle
Be comfortable swimming in the Ocean
Have a reasonable level of fitness (there is a run swim run component of the exam)
A financial member of Piha SLSC for the 26/27 season
Paid the $30 contribution to the course
The other option is Patrol Support. If you don't think you are quite there with your swimming, you can complete the other components of the course and exam and become a Patrol Support person. This role is a vital part of the patrol and at a later date, if you wish, you can complete the water component to become a Surf Lifeguard.
