If a new innings commences, it must be completed unless one team is a clear winner and other has no chance to catch up. There is no ‘going back to even innings’ If one team is winning and the other team cannot catch up (more than 5 runs ahead) then the game is over at 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Only 9 players are to field per inning, unlimited substitutions for all players on the bench.
  • All players in the line-up hit, the batting order is to remain the same for the entire game. If a player cannot or does not want to bat, they can choose to stay off the batting line up and cannot be entered to bat at any time during the game.
  • The team list must be submitted prior to the game commencing or they will be defaulted.
  • The game must start within 15 minutes of the start time on the draw - if either team does not have the required minimum 8 players in that 15 minute grace period, the other team wins by default and the teams can agree to play on as a ‘friendly’ but the score must be entered as 7-0 to the team defaulted on.
  • Late players can enter the game provided:
    • They are on the original team list submitted before the game commenced
    • They haven’t missed their turn ‘at bat’
    • A full inning hasn’t been completed
    • If they have missed a turn at bat, or a full inning (bat and field) has been complete, they are not allowed to enter the game UNLESS a player substitution has been agreed on prior to the game

  • 3 Strikes and the Batter is out, 4 Balls and the batter advances to 1st Base.
  • Runners can ‘take a lead’ once the ball has been released by the pitcher, and can attempt to steal a base if the catcher loses control of the ball and it goes behind their heels (pass ball)

  • The minimum age is 14 years of age (before 15 October) to play in Division 1, Men or Women competition. There are no exceptions. Please abide by the rules for the safety of our young athletes.
  • Third Strike Foul Rule - If the catcher fails to catch a third strike, and the ball touches the ground, it is considered an error to the catcher and the batter may run to first base but only if firstbase is unoccupied.  If there is a base runner at first, the batter is automatically out and the catcher does not have to throw the ball to first base for the out. However, if there is a base runner at first, that runner may advance (at their discretion) on the pass ball but the batter is out.The umpire is to call "Batter out!".
  • Infield Fly Rule - this Rule is in effect when a fly ball (not including a line drive or an attempted bunt pop-up) can be caught by an infielder in fair territory, with ordinary effort, and there are base runners at first and second base; or first, second and third base. And, there are less than two outs - no outs or one out. Any fielder who positions themselves in or near the infield on the play, will be considered infielders for the purpose of this rule. Umpire to simply call "Infield Fly Rule if Fair!".
  • Borrowing players for second round robin - once the second round commences, teams may no longer borrow players from other teams to field a team. Only the official team list at registration will be used.
