COVID-19 AND RETURN TO RUGBY

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the sport we all love. Here you will find all the information our Pōneke Junior Players & Supporters need to know about what we're doing to keep everyone safe. The following details Coaches, Managers, Junior Players & Parents roles in uniting against COVID-19.

New Zealand Rugby and the Wellington Rugby Union are developing guidance for playing rugby under the new COVID-19 Protection Framework. This guidance will be published here
https://www.nzrugby.co.nz/news-and-events/covid-19/.

New Zealand Rugby has issued a directive that players, referees, coaches, management and support staff in 15-a-side community rugby games will be required to have Covid-19 Vaccination Certificates, as part of participation in 2022. This is to ensure that 15-a-side games can proceed even under the Red setting of the COVID-19 Protection Framework.

In Junior Rugby this current directive would only apply to the Year 7/8 Grades and only for players and officials 12 years and older. During registration for players 12 years and older you will be provided the opportunity to upload and verify the player's Vaccination Certificate.

Pōneke Juniors are still working on the plan in regards to delivering preseason training under Red and this will be communicated closer to the time.

When visiting the Toitu Hub clubrooms anybody over the age of 12 years and 3 months will need to provide a Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate as this is the policy of The Hub.
