WHO WE ARE

Founded in 1975, Port Hill United Football Club has evolved from a dozen cricket players (Napier Technical Cricket Club) to a club with over 500 members across the Juniors and Seniors spaces today.

In 2025, our milestone 50th Anniversary, we were inaugurally crowned Central Football's Regional Club of The Year; being recognised for our commitment to talent progression, people-first ethos and supportive community culture.

Testament to our inclusive culture, as of 2026, our ever-growing club proudly boasts seven men’s & three women’s teams playing across the majority of the Hawke’s Bay senior competitions and we have a strong link with our ever-evolving Port Hill Juniors space to ensure support for our young players and a clear pathway through to senior football.

OUR HISTORY

Originally named Napier Technical Soccer Club and based at Whitmore Park (Napier), the club decided to relocate their members and set up their own clubrooms at South Pond, in Ahuriri (Napier) in 1983. In 1984, Napier Tech became an independent identity and unanimously changed its club name to Port Hill United Soccer Club. In 2010 the name was updated to Port Hill United Football Club.

In 1992, Port Hill seized the opportunity to relocate and purchased a facility at Marewa Park (Napier), which is arguably one of the best football grounds in the Hawke's Bay region and to which the club is currently based today. Port Hill has long prided itself with an attitude towards pro-activeness, innovation and continuous growth over our 50 years and continue to maintain these values as a priority.

A consistently strong membership & loyal supporters is proof of Port Hill's willingness to stay competitive. Not only on the field, but off it, by staying financially sustainable, supporting and promoting sponsors, improving facilities and focusing on a club culture which celebrates & supports our whole club.
