Established in 1946, Portland Rugby League Club (PRLC) is a proud, longstanding community club based in Portland, Whangārei.
For nearly eighty years, we have been a key part of local rugby league and whānau connection, drawing strength from our roots in a vibrant community shaped by generations of residents, the Portland Cement works, and our local kura.
PRLC is dedicated to supporting rangatahi and whānau through our active junior club with tamariki of all age groups (U6–U18), strong participation in both men’s and women’s senior competitions and exciting plans for our PRLC Masters team.

Junior Grades
Portland Rugby League Club is proud to host strong junior membership, with teams across every age grade from Under 6s to Under 18s. Our junior programme is more than sport—it’s a kaupapa-driven space where tamariki and rangatahi grow in confidence, connection, and pride. We have seen 387% growth in kōtiro participation since 2022 with girls now making up 42% of our junior players.
Our success is built on community support, visibility, and inclusive values. Every player matters—and every supporter helps shape the next generation of confident, connected leaders.
