Pakuranga premier players Pasqualle Dunn and Cam Finefeuiaki will play for the Auckland Contenders tonight in a match against Northland.

Premier Captain Pasqualle was a member of the Auckland NPC team last year and has been training with the Contenders squad for the past month, while Cam has been called into the team on the back of his bruising form in the club competition to date.

The Contenders programme forms a big part of the Auckland NPC squad talent identification – featuring players not currently involved in Super Rugby or New Zealand Under 20s.

Pakuranga Premier coach Grant ‘Boof’ Henson congratulated Pasqualle and Cam on their selection.

“With Pas, his reputation and good form got him rewarded with his initial selection while Cam has been recognised for his constant improvement this year with a late call up and tonight is his opportunity to go out there against Northland and show what he can do at the next level,” said Boof.

“We are disappointed not to have more players in the mix at the moment but really happy for the two that have been selected and hope we can push for more players as the season goes on.”

The contenders play Northland in Wellsford tonight, kick off 7pm.
