Welcome to the Rakaia Rugby Club

• Location: The Rakaia Rugby Football Club is based at the Rakaia Domain. All Rugby Practices are held in the Rakaia Domain.

• History:  The Rakaia Rugby Club is one of the oldest Rugby Clubs in New Zealand and was first formed in July 1876. It will celebrate its 150th Jubilee in 2026. It has remained strong despite world wars and economic recessions and continues to provide sport and recreational opportunities for the local Rakaia Community and the surrounding area. The club has four playing fields at the Rakaia Domain with modern changing/showering facilities and floodlights for night training, A new Clubrooms is scheduled to be built at the Rakaia Domain, however currently there are temporary Clubrooms available in the Rakaia Bowling Clubrooms at the Rakaia Domain.

• Teams Available:  

• ​​​​​​​Open Grade teams – Senior (Div 1), Senior B (Div 2) & Colts (Under 21). Preseason training begins in January. Practices every Tuesday and Thursday 6.30pm at Rakaia Domain. Online Registrations open in January. Competition Season starts in April and ends in July.

• Teenage Grades – Under 18,16,14. Information tbc.

• Junior Grades - Under 6,7,8,9,10,11,13.   Preseason training begins in March. Online Registrations open in February. Practices are on Wednesday afternoon at 4.30pm. Competition Season starts in May and ends August.​​​​​​​
