Season Dates

The basketball season spans all of Term 2 and the first few weeks of Term 3

Game Days

Games are usually on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays, depending on the grade. For more information on specific grades, please see the North Harbour Basketball Website

Age group clarification:

If you are Year 9 or Year 10 you are a Junior

If you are Year 11 - 13 and are 16 or younger for the entire year, then you are eligible to play in U17 grades.

If you turn 17 at any point during the year, you must play in an U19 or Open grade.

Venues

All teams train in the college gyms. The majority of games are at the following venues:

• Eventfinda Stadium (NSEC)
• YMCA Northcote
• AUT Northcote
• Massey University

Senior premier teams play in Auckland-wide competitoins and play home and away games at the respective schools of their opposition.

Transport Information

It is each families responsibility to get their students to and from all trainings and games.

Rangitoto College is the biggest school in the country and that is reflected in our number of basketball teams. With numbers increasing year to year we are always on the look out for coaches to develop our students as they progress through Rangitoto College Basketball.

Rangitoto College is one of the leading Basketball schools in New Zealand. The school caters for a wide range of levels and looks to develop players as they progress through the school.

We have over 30 teams and approximately 300 basketballers at the school. Teams range from social to competitive, and are graded by age: Junior, U17, U19, and Premier.

In 2015 and 2016 our premier boys team, led by highly experienced coach Kenny Stone, won back-to-back national titles!

Second Hand Uniforms

The PTA runs a Second Hand Uniforms shop at the College that is open every Friday lunch time 1.30pm - 2.15pm and the first Saturday of every month (2.30pm - 3.30pm), except school holidays. For further information please see the school website.

Equipment

Along with the uniform, it is compulsory that each student had a mouth guard & shoes.

Every year during tournament week (later Term 3) our Senior & Junior Premier teams compete in the Zone 1 championships. For the Junior teams this the the only competition for the year. For the seniors, it acts as qualifiers for the national tournament which is held in the Term 3/4 holidays in early October.
