Volleyball - Volleyball

Volleyball is an awesome summer sports choice - it’s fast, upbeat, and a great way to stay active. It’s super social, with quick rallies, constant teamwork, and plenty of fun moments with friends. It’s the perfect mix of energy, skill, and teamwork.

The newly introduced competition held at Karori Recreation Centre has quickly become a popular sport choice for Marsden Years 5-8 students - in 2025 we had 5 teams registered in Year 6-8 alone!

COMPETITION

Teams will play in the local Volleyball league at Karori Recreation Centre on Monday afternoons (approx. between 3.30-5.00pm).

The first two weeks of each term will be skills sessions run by KRC coaches. Students will learn all of the rules of the game as well as umpire for other teams.

The rest of the term will be league-play, consisting of games against other local schools.

The Volleyball league itself is a version of the sport called Kiwi-Volley, a simple introduction to the sport and only requires 4 players in each team. This makes it a fast, fun and easier game for newer players to experience before playing in college.

TRAININGS

Teams will have one training per week during a lunchtime which will be likely led by a senior student. Date and time/s will be dependent on coaches availabilty.

UNIFORM

Marsden school PE Uniform - Tee and Shorts, white socks and appropraite sports shoes. Knee-pads are optional and most players do not wear them, but your daughter is welcome to if they wish!

COACHES/MANAGERS

Teams will likely be coached by one of our Marsden senior Volleyball players. However, we welcome any parents who wish to coach to please get in touch!

It is a requirement for all Marsden sports teams to have a parent manager to manage all team communications as well as a parent/adult to supervise during their weekly games. The team manager may be a shared role by parents. Please consider whether you may be able to support your daughter's team during the season, and indicate so on the registration form.
