Our History and Venue

The Southbrook Community Sports Club Inc is a non-profit organization first incorporated in 1947. Saved from being struck off the register in the late 1980’s, when the Southbrook Cricket Club Inc. and the then Southbrook Rugby Football Club Inc. formed a joint venture for the ownership and running of the club rooms at Southbrook Park.

It was also about this time the Rangiora Town & Country building was purchased, dismantled and moved to Southbrook Park where it was put together like a large jigsaw puzzle.

This building was officially opened on 19th October 1999 by the then Mayor of Rangiora Mrs Janice Skurr.

The main facility of the Sports Club is a large two story venue that can be hired for private functions. We can cater for small groups of 10-20 and large groups up to 200.

We have a fully licensed bar, and you can use your own caterer.

There is plenty of parking, a children’s playground and a variety of indoor and outdoor areas that make this an ideal facility for your wedding, birthday party or conference, all in a park like setting.

The two storey building you pass shortly after entering the park was built in the mid 1980's with changing rooms on the ground level.

The Sports Club is home to: The Saracens Rugby Football Club, The Southbrook Cricket Club, Southbrook Touch, Southbrook Netball Club and North Canterbury Special Olympics and used by a number of other sporting bodies for various events.
