Year 1/2 futureFERNS
Year 1-2 futureFERNS introduces Netball to 5-6 year olds. The aim is to develop fundamental movement and basic Netball skills. The 4 v 4 game format allows players to pass, catch and shoot from day one.
This programme is held outdoors at the Taita Netball Courts by Netball Hutt Valley and played for six weeks on Saturday mornings in Term 1.
Teams are given a set game time of 9am or 10am.
This is completely dependent on Parental Support. No practices are required at school.
COACH (Star Helper)
Each team entered needs a 'Star Helper' (Coach) who has attended the free Year 1-2 Star Helper workshop. The workshop is specific to the Year 1-2 age group and helps to get all the helpers on the same page.
GAME DAY FORMAT
● Warm up
● Skill activities (one topic covered per week) for around 20 minutes.
● Game of 4v4 Netball played across 1/3 of a court - see Year 1-2 4v4 Game Information brochure on Hutt Valley Netball website.

● Warm down Team helpers will be actively involved during the session.
Our Junior Coordinators will lead a group of teams for the warm up, skills and cool down components. At game time, your team helper is an on-court support working with the helper from the other team.
