ABOUT THE ROLE

Programme Delivery Support

  • Assist with the delivery of sport and recreation programmes and events
  • Support participants during activities to ensure they feel welcomed, included, and confident to take part
  • Help with the setup and pack down of equipment and venues
  • Provide practical support to coaches and volunteers during sessions
  • Help ensure activities run safely and smoothly

Member Experience

  • Create a welcoming and positive environment for members and their families
  • Encourage participation and help build confidence for those taking part
  • Support members during sessions as required

Programme Promotion

  • Assist with promoting programmes and events across our channels, including creating, managing, and scheduling social media content
  • Capture and share content, including posts, photos, and updates that showcase participant experiences and successes

Administration Support

  • Assist with simple administrative tasks related to programme delivery
  • Help maintain attendance records and basic programme information
  • Support the preparation of programme information when required

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people and being part of a team. You don’t need extensive experience, just a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and an interest in sport programmes, and using social media to tell promote and share stories. You’ll be reliable, approachable, and happy to pitch in wherever needed.

RECREATE NZ - LEAD PROGRAMME COORDINATOR (Full-time)

ABOUT US

Recreate NZ provides a wide range of services and programmes for youth with intellectual disabilities or neurodiversity. Recreate NZ in Auckland was launched in 2002, due to a need for more recreational opportunities for disability services. With a great community and team already established, we are searching for someone special to lead our Recreate NZ programme offerings.

The successful applicant would align closely with Recreate NZ values (as below) and work well within our passionate team.

THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL HAVE:

  • Relevant qualifications (or working towards), such as a Sport and Recreation or Recreation Therapy Degree, Psychology/Health or Social Science degrees or similar, and
  • Experience in leadership and management of small teams, and
  • Demonstrated youth leadership and volunteer management skills, and
  • Demonstrated experience working with youth with intellectual disabilities, and
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering adventure, recreation, social, life and work-skills programmes for groups of youth with intellectual disabilities. 

This role typically suits a recent graduate, or someone wanting to gain valuable disability-sector experience and as a not-for-profit, the remuneration reflects this.

This role comprises 22 hours per week of office-based coordination, with regular programme delivery/facilitation (an average of 10 hours per week) to equate to a full-time role of 32 hours per week.

As the community and programme demand grows, our intention is to create more programmes to facilitate resulting in an increase on hours. This is a sole-position for our Hawke's Bay region, with regular contact with our National Programmes Manager and other Lead Programme Coordinators in our other regions. Our intention is to grow the Hawke's Bay team as the needs and programme demands arise.

Recreate NZ Coordinators have an annual allocation of programmes required to be personally facilitated, with plenty of creativity and flexibility for programme design and delivery.

Programme delivery for this role will include delivery of holiday programmes, social events on Friday or Saturday evenings, and occasional multi-day adventure/weekend programmes (including overnights). All our programmes are for groups of youth with a variety of mild to moderate intellectual disabilities (for a full range of our programme offerings check out our website - www.recreate.org.nz.)

All our Programme Coordinators require excellent administration and communication skills, good spoken and written English, plus solid ''attention to detail'' event planning skills. Additionally, we are looking for great leadership skills, adequate cooking skills, a full driver's license, and an ability to think on their feet when out and about our marvellous country.

Additional responsibilities include networking with various stakeholders and liaising with families in our community. This is a dynamic, fast-paced working environment, so this role is well suited to someone who works well under pressure, adapts to change, and has excellent time management skills

SPORT HAWKE'S BAY - CYCLE SKILLS INSTRUCTORS (2–6 hour sessions as and when required)

We are looking for CASUAL Cycling Instructors to join our Active Communities team.

KEY GOAL/MISSION:

  • To deliver quality cycle skills instruction using the Bike Ready Programme.
  • ​​​​​​​To deliver scooter safety skills to schools

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To deliver cycle/scooter skills sessions and bike-ready programmes.
  • To have the flexibility to deliver the programmes at different venues within the Napier/Hastings Environments, including on school grounds and at parks/cycleways.
  • Undertake specific outcomes, evaluations or reports as requested.

SPORT HAWKE’S BAY – GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR

Sport Hawke’s Bay exists to enhance the oranga of Hawke’s Bay by making evidenced based decisions to influence, enable and support our communities to have a lifelong love of physical activity.


An instructing position is available within our Recreation team.  Our Recreation instructors provide high-quality, low-impact group exercise programmes.  One of our specialized areas includes programmes for older adults and kaumātua to improve strength, balance and flexibility, along with Tai Chi at a variety of venues in Napier and Hastings.  An instructor is required to extend the range and scope of programmes on offer.


The key responsibilities for this position are:


  • To prepare and deliver group exercise programmes specifically tailored for older adults and other targeted community physical activity programmes.
  • Have flexibility to deliver programmes in Napier and Hastings.
  • Be available to relieve at venues when requested.
  • Attend training opportunities as determined by Sport Hawke’s Bay.
