TQ MIDGETS

A TQ Midget—short for Three-Quarter Midget—is a small, single-seat open-wheel race car designed for dirt track speedway racing.

These cars are known for their agility, affordability, and thrilling wheel-to-wheel action, making them a fan favorite across the country.

  • Engine: Most popular choice is a Suzuki GSXR-750 water-cooled engine, chain-driven. These engines are now required to be standard, self starting and capable of driving onto the track under their own power.
  • Size: Smaller than full-size midgets, with a compact frame and short wheelbase.
  • Weight: Extremely lightweight, enhancing acceleration and cornering.

In short, TQ Midgets are the “pocket rockets” of New Zealand speedway—small in size but massive in excitement.
