The primary characteristics required for all Speedway NZ roles is an individual's ability to apply regulations impartially, decisively and correctly. 

Key Skills for Stewards

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the rules and their application
  
• Good communication and people skills
  
• Process driven
  
• Be Consistent and not be influenced by emotions or external factors which would cause inconsistencies in rulings
  

Key Skills for Referees

• Excellent knowledge and understanding of the racing rules and their application
  
• The ability to be a lateral thinker
  
• Manage well with concurrent activity
  
• Be able to multitask under stress
  
• Be Consistent and not be influenced by emotions or external factors which would cause inconsistencies in rulings

How do i become a Speedway NZ Senior Official or Technical Steward?

Senior Official and Technical Steward Appointments are nominated by Speedway NZ Head Officials, for approval by the Speedway NZ Board annually. They are experienced track officials, who have met the qualification requirements to become a Senior Official, and have demonstrated exceptional skills in the field.
