Southland Rugby League Board

Charlotte Melvin – Chairperson

Charlotte is a Health and Safety Advisor covering the bottom of Southland for an NZX-listed entity. Charlotte has a background doing both Health and Safety and HR roles and has a passion for governance, which Charlotte believes is beneficial when being part of a board.

Charlotte’s background and experience in key areas of business brings a set of skills to the board that will work well alongside the other members.

Adam Love – Deputy Chairperson

Adam and his family made the big move from Auckland to Invercargill in 2015 in search of a better lifestyle and a safer place to raise two young boys. Immediately feeling at home, they started to put down roots and joined community groups including sports clubs. Rugby, and later Rugby League became highlights of the weekend schedule. It didn't take long for Adam to realise he wanted to give back to the sporting community.

As a licensed real estate agent Adam works hard to negotiate outcomes that meet the needs of all parties. Solving problems, maximising resources and thinking outside the box all come naturally.

While he is new to the world of governance, what he lacks in experience he will make up for with enthusiasm, passion and dedication. Adam is looking forward to being part of the move to grow Rugby League in Southland.

Heather Hopcroft – Secretary

Heather is passionate about sport and the benefits that it offers to all involved. She has been on many boards in the past, including sports boards. One of her major contributions was 7 years on the Touch Southland board.

Heather plays a vital part in running her family business and after having held various board roles over time she is keen to support the new board in having a strong governance structure.

Devon Grey – Treasurer

Devon was born in Southland and was raised to love all things Rugby League. Devon joined the acting SDRL board at the beginning of 2023 taking over the role of treasurer. Her passion for the game and experience working as an Invercargill based accountant makes her a good fit to help the board with all its financial responsibilities. She is committed to helping grow the game of Rugby League and is hoping to make a positive impact from behind the scenes of SDRL.

Amanda Kaiteri

Amanda has been involved with Southland Junior Rugby League since 2015 and has played a significant role in the junior space for the Tigers club both coaching and administration. She has also worked for Southern Zone Rugby League as a Development Officer with a focus on increasing participation.

Amanda has also coached a wide range of sports, at all levels, from social to representative for over 20 years. She is passionate about sports and thinks it’s so important for kids to be involved. Being a previous player she loves seeing kids develop and get better.

Patrick Sililoto

Patrick Sililoto has dedicated more than 2 decades of his life to the Southland Rugby League, wearing multiple hats as a player, coach, referee, and committee member. He started He Tauaa Juniors 6 years ago to provide an avenue for his son to engage in the sport. Today, He Tauaa Juniors stands as the largest junior league club in Southland.

Beyond the Rugby League arena, Patrick has also made significant contributions where he works. For over a decade, he has served as the manager and foreman at Sheet Metalcraft. Showcasing not only his passion for Rugby League but also his dedication to his career.

With a heart firmly invested in Southland Rugby League, Patrick’s ultimate goal is to witness the continued growth and success of the sport in the region for many years to come. His multifaceted involvement, from grassroots initiatives with He Tauaa to his managerial role at Sheet Metalcraft, reflects a man who is deeply committed to both his community and the sport he loves.
