On Monday night at Rugby Southland's 134th Annual General Meeting held at Rugby Park, it was announced that the Rugby Southland Board Selection Panel selected Toni MacLellan (Biddle) and Aloma Williams as new Directors through until 2024.
Both MacLellan and Williams have a long history in Southland, involved in both governance and rugby.
Aloma Williams has served many years as secretary on numerous Rugby Southland Committees and is Woodlands Primary School Principal.
Toni MacLellan, who previously served the Invercargill City as a councillor and Deputy Mayor, currently works in for the Ministry Of Business, Innovation and Employment as Regional Lead - Regional Skills Leadership Group Southland/Murihiku.
Rugby Southland General Manager Steve Mitchell is pleased to have two fresh minds in the unions governing body.
"We must consider the NZR and sport focus of better diversification at Board level and having two ladies of this calibre is outstanding. They will each bring their own views and ideas as we look to continue our progress over the next three years".
Thanks must go to outgoing directors Jason Franklin and Dylan Ditchfield.
Jason served as Chairman for a number of his six years on the board and Dylan as Deputy Chair for the past 14 months of his three-year term.
Both Jason and Dylan have played key roles in the successes of the past three years.
Rugby Southland voted unanimously to re-elect Leicester Rutledge as President of Rugby Southland.
