Rugby Southland is pleased to announce Southern 'young guns' Rory van Vugt (Balclutha) and Ben Fotheringham (Invercargill) have signed on to play for the SIT Zero Fees Southland Stags in the 2019 Mitre 10 Cup season.

For Rory and Ben, it was their first season with the Stags, with van Vugt coming in at the mid way point as injury cover, proving his worth and taking out the award for 'most impoved back' at the recent Rugby Southland awards evening. 

Both players are excited for the next 12 months of Southland Rugby. 

"I'm very greatful for the opportunity that I've been given with the Stags. It's a proud province with some great history. I'm excited to get stuck in to develop my own game and to create our (Stags) own history in 2019 with team mates, coaching staff and loyal fans"- Rory van Vugt

"I've really enjoyed this season even though we didn't get the results we were after, the culture remained positive. I learnt a lot off the coaches and players and look to keep improving over the off season. I'm stoked to have be given the opportunity to get back out on the feild in 2019"- Ben Fotheringham
