What a weekend of club footy!
Last weekend it was the Division One Ack Soper Shield providing the excitement with all three matches being decided by single digits.
In Premier rugby, Woodlands continue to sit atop the Galbraith Shield ladder, three points clear of Pirates-Old Boys with both sides having wins at ILT Centrepoint Oreti Park over the weekend. Woodlands got off to a shaky start, down two tries in the first 20 minutes against Marist. However, they quickly sparked up running in 55 unanswered points to continue their dominant form in the Premier grade with another bonus point victory.
Pirates-Old Boys took on Star in a game that went down to the wire with Star holding a slender two point lead with less than ten minutes to go. Moments after Star turned down a kickable penalty, Pirates-Old Boys first five Greg Dyer slotted an easy three points to give his side a one point lead which they held until the final whistle.
In Division One, the Ack Soper Shield Grade continues to heat up with three close games once again further condensing the points table. Midlands and Riversdale both secured gritty two point victories over Waikaka and Te Anau respectively. Wyndham also had a gutsy win over neigbouring Edendale in Wyhndham's Kieran Andersons 100th game for the club.
Pioneer and Tokanui currently hold the top two spots on the Gerald Dermody Shield table after Pioneer defeated previosuly unbeaten Mossburn. Tokanui meanwhile notched up a win over now 4th placed Waikiwi.
In Divison Two, Bluff and Waiau Star remain undefeated after four games, setting up a mouthwatering clash this weekend at Bluff.
Collegiate remain the only team unbeaten in the Life Members Trophy grade after another solid win, this time against Bush Pirates.
In womens rugby, Blues sit top of the table unbeaten, three points clear of Marist, after a 29-12 win over Albion in Gore.
Waikaia and Tokanui remain top of the two Presidents grades with the two teams both securing wins over the weekend.
