This is a fun event for all ages, but it is the competitors/parents responsibility to ensure swimming confidence and ability is at an adequate level before entering.

The Clyde Open-Water Swim is proud to be part of the New Zealand Southern Lakes Swim Series for the 2026/27 season!

The series brings together five fantastic freshwater swimming events across the lower South Island, encouraging swimmers to explore new locations, take part in more events and be part of a growing open-water swimming community.

The five events in the series are:

• Clyde Open-Water Swim – Clyde - 31st December 2027
• The Ruby Swim – Wānaka  - 23rd January 2027
• Across the Lake – Te Anau - 6th February 2027
• Meridian Swim Lake Ruataniwha - 6th March 2027
• ​​​​​​​The Legend – Queenstown - 30th March 2027
  

How does the series work?

For the 2026/27 season, it’s simple! Enter and swim in 4 of the 5 events to be part of the series.

You can choose any distance at each event – you don’t need to swim the same distance throughout the series.

To be eligible for the series prize, one of your four events must be the final event, The Whakatipu Legend in Queenstown, where the winner will be announced and the prize awarded live.

Whether you're an experienced open-water swimmer or just keen to challenge yourself to a few more swims this summer, the Southern Lakes Swim Series is a great excuse to get out and experience some of the South Island’s spectacular lakes.
