South Malvern Netball Club

We are excited to welcome players for the 2024 season. Enclosed are housekeeping details which are there to make it easier for everyone to be on the same page.

We welcome people to come forward with your knowledge, support and any ideas in order to make our club run smoother so we have happy netball players giving their all for their South Malvern Netball Club.

In order for our club to run effectively we rely on the support of the players and families in all areas such as fundraising, weekly raffles, coaching, help during the game, team management, umpiring and being part of the committee.

LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYONE THERE!

Weekly Requirements of Members:

On a playing Game Day, each team needs to provide the following:

  • One “bench person” to undertake either the electronic scoreboard timing/scoring or official ‘yellow’ card scoring duties This can be a parent, grandparent, sibling of suitable age, or friend. It is up to each team to ensure that there is someone available to do this duty each game. No matter which of these duties a person is doing, remember to keep an eye on the other person to ensure they are recording the score correctly.
  • One “first aid person” wears the designated armband to identify themselves as the person who will undertake any first aid requirements for the team, being the primary person who can go on to the court to assist an injured player. There are a handful of rules which relate to this which will be provided to the person(s) who offer to undertake this role.

In addition to the duties above, it would be great to see each team with a ‘team manager’ who can assist the coach during the season.

FUNDRAISING

We appreciate all families being able to participate in fundraising if and when required. Fundraising is a key element of keeping our subs as low as possible and is the sole reason we were able to subsidise our fees for the 2024 season.

IF YOU HAVE ANY FUNDRAISING IDEAS PLEASE LET US KNOW, EVEN BETTER, COME ALONG TO A MEETING AS WE WOULD LOVE IDEAS!!!

UNIFORMS

Allocated on Club day

At the end of the season, uniforms can be returned at prize giving. Uniforms need to be washed.

Alternatively, arrangements need to be made with Jo 0210659846.

UMPIRES

We NEED you to keep the teams playing. It is important to have at least one umpire per team, preferably three so it is not all one person's responsibility. Dads, Mums, and Siblings can be an umpire with the right training and support. Let us know if this sounds like something that you would like to do.

DOGS

Selwyn District Council has a regulation that dogs cannot be within 5 metres of any playing field. That includes the Netball courts. Therefore please be reminded to keep all dogs at least 5 metres away from the courts. Many Thanks.
