Sean O’Brien Memorial Trophy – Outstanding Achievement in an Individual Sport
Must be a student in Year 13
This award recognises a student who has demonstrated outstanding performance in a sport throughout the year. The recipient consistently maintained a high level of performance across multiple events or competitions. They exhibited excellent sportsmanship, showing respect for opponents, officials, and teammates. The awardee has also earned significant accolades, awards, or recognition at the regional, national, or international levels.
Father Scambary Cup – Top Sportsman of the Year
Must be a Year 13 student
This award celebrates a student who has excelled in multiple sports codes during the year. The individual made a significant impact in each sport, contributing to both team and individual success. Their achievements include notable success or recognition, such as titles, awards, or selection for representative teams. Outstanding sportsmanship across all sports codes is also a key criterion for this award.
Individual Sport Sportsman of the Year
Individual Sport Sportsman of the Year
This accolade honours a student who has displayed exceptional ability and achievement in a specific individual sport. The awardee has earned significant recognition, titles, or awards at the regional, national, or international levels within their chosen sport. Maintaining high standards of conduct, respect for competitors, and integrity is essential for this award.
Team of the Year
This award is given to a team that has achieved outstanding success in competitions, championships, or tournaments. Additionally, they represented the school with pride and upheld the values of the College.
Junior Sportsman of the Year
This award is specifically for Year 9 and 10 students.
It recognises a junior athlete who has displayed exceptional skill, ability, and potential in their sport(s). The recipient has achieved significant success or recognition in junior competitions or events. They have also exemplary sportsmanship and a positive attitude in all sporting activities.
Coach of the Year Award
This award acknowledges a coach who demonstrates outstanding leadership skills, effectively guiding their team and fostering a positive team culture. The recipient has achieved significant success with their team, such as winning championships, titles, or showing consistent improvement throughout the season. The coach must promote and exemplify sportsmanship, integrity, and respect.
Outstanding Contribution to Sport (Student)
This award recognises a student who has shown leadership in organising, coaching, or supporting sports activities. The recipient has taken the initiative to promote and enhance the sports programme within the school. They have contributed to the success of others by assisting coaches, teammates, or younger students. A strong commitment to the development and success of sport at the College is essential.
Para-Athlete of the Year
This award recognises a para-athlete who has demonstrated exceptional determination and resilience in overcoming physical, mental, or other challenges to participate in sports. The recipient has achieved significant personal or team success, despite the presence of a disability. A strong commitment to continuous improvement in their chosen sport is also crucial.
Outstanding Contribution to Sport (Volunteer/Staff)
This award is for a volunteer or staff member who has shown exceptional dedication and commitment to supporting the St Bede’s sports programme over an extended period of time. Their contributions have made a significant impact on the success and development of sports teams, events, or programmes.
Sportsmanship of the Year
This award recognises an individual who consistently shows respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials, fostering a positive and inclusive sporting environment. The recipient demonstrates a strong commitment to fair play, adhering to the rules of the game, and promoting ethical behaviour in all situations. Providing support and encouragement to others and building a positive team culture and spirit are also important aspects of this award.
Student Referee of the Year
This award is given to a student referee who has shown a commitment to refereeing sport either within St Bede’s or in the community. The recipient will have ensured fairness in all decisions, maintaining impartiality and objectivity during games. They promote sportsmanship by setting a positive example for players and showing respect for the spirit of the game.
The Aspiring Sports Award
This award recognises an individual or team who has shown growth and determination, overcame challenges and stepped outside their comfort zone, such as trying a new sport for the first time. Despite not achieving top results, they have displayed commitment to training and improvement, maintaining a positive attitude throughout the season. The recipient also demonstrates sportsmanship by supporting teammates, respecting opponents, and serving as a positive influence on others.
