Takapuna FC Junior and Youth Scholarship

The Takapuna FC Scholarship is a brand-new initiative created by Takapuna Football Club and Youth Director of Football, Daniel Semp. 

This scholarship program reflects the belief in recognising and rewarding the effort, positive mindset and success of players from the Takapuna Football Club Junior and Youth members.  The scholarship does not solely reflect a players ability to play, but encompasses the characteristics of leadership, fair play and overall sportsmanship.  

The club will offer a maximum of 4 scholarships per year.

Clubhouse Wall Photo: The winners of the Takapuna FC Scholarship will have their photo displayed on the clubhouse wall, serving as an inspiration for all members of the club and future generations. 

Free Season with Takapuna FC: The award recipients will have their upcoming season fees paid for in full by the club. 

Individual Coaching Sessions and Mentoring: The scholarship winners will have the privilege of receiving exclusive one-on-one personal sessions and mentoring for the year with Youth Director of Football, Daniel Semp. These tailored coaching sessions, conducted once a term, will help the recipients refine their skills, receive personalised guidance, and unlock their full potential.

Football Boots and Takapuna FC off-field clothing:  The scholarship recipients will each receive a free pair of boots, and an item of Takapuna FC off-field clothing of their choice. 


Criteria:

We are looking for Junior and Youth players who exemplify the core values and spirit of Takapuna FC.

To be eligible, you must:

Have played at least one season with Takapuna FC

Be aged between 9 – 17 years of age

Be able to demonstrate how you’ve embodied the Takapuna FC values of

Nurture: Encourage, educate, team play, leadership, friendship, fun, fairness

Pride: Self-belief, sense of belonging, team/club, respect, inclusiveness

Ambition: To be the best you can be


Application process:

To apply for the TAFC Scholarship, players will need to submit an application form.  The application will include:

Your current grade and team

How long you’ve been playing at TFC

Why you think you should be considered for the TFC scholarship

Examples of how you think you’ve embodied the TFC values, including showing sportsmanship and being a team player

Reference letter supporting your application from a 3rd party i.e. coach, parent, teammate

Applications are to be submitted by the players/parents only, not by 3rd party i.e. coaches cannot nominate team players, but may nominate their own child


Selection process:

Comms and applications to go live on Monday 4th September

Applications close on Sunday 24th September

Selection committee meet to review applications week of 25th September

Selection committee to consist of: Junior Director of Football, Youth Director of Football, Director of Football and Club Chairman.  The Club Manager will sit in on selection committee to assist in facilitating and administering

Shortlist created of top applicants

Coaches contacted by Club Manager for 5-minute reference check

Recipients selected by committee by Monday 9th October

Recipients announced at Junior and Youth prizegiving Saturday 14th October
