When does the netball season run?
Please see season dates
When and where are training sessions?
Training sessions are held after school at the school courts. You can select your preferred training day(s) when registering, and your coach will confirm your team’s training day. Times depend on the coach usually 3.15/30 to 4.15/30.
To ensure player safety, and to get the most out of the training session, they are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear, have a full drink bottle handy and have a quick snack to eat prior to training. The coaches time is just as precious.
Where are games played?
Games are played at the Wānaka Recreation Centre, using both indoor and outdoor courts.
How much are subs and how do I pay?
Subs are $90 per player and are due upon registration - direct debit to Take Karara Netball Club - 06-0943-0876761-00 with player name as reference (this fee includes uniform bond - see below).
What uniform is required?
This season, the uniform includes a netball dress (girls) or t-shirt (boys) and a branded hoodie. Uniforms are covered by your registration fee, and a $20 bond will be refunded at the end of the season once the uniform is returned with no damage, aside from general wear and tear.
Dresses / t-shirts will be handed out early in the season so players can try them on for size.
On game day, players should wear:
For safety reasons, crocs or slip-on shoes are not recommended.
As the weather cools, long sleeves, leggings or tights may be worn under dresses.
Please ensure all players are prepared on game day, with full drink bottle, hair tied up , nails cut short and no jewellery.
What happens if the weather is bad?
On wet days, the committee will notify coaches as early as possible. A wet weather draw will be shared and updates will also be posted online.
Please note that the wet weather draw is created at the start of the season and is separate from the regular season draw. This means teams may play opponents they have already faced, and games may be shorter to ensure all teams get a game on the two indoor courts.
Does my child need to be available every Saturday?
Netball is a team sport and regular attendance is important, as teams rely on all players each week. We understand that there may be some weekends when your child is unavailable. In those cases, please let your coach know as early as possible so cover can be arranged.
