PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE 2026

Welcome all Tauranga Indoor Bowlers to 2026 as we once again start a new season of competition, comradeship and renewing old rivalries on the mat.

By the time this goes to print our “home base” Mount Sports Centre should have a new roof installed which is long overdue. This however is a positive sign that our future occupancy going forward should be extended significantly, with the Tauranga City Council finally prepared to spend money here on upgrades. Fingers crossed.

Your Executive Committee will again this year continue to work hard on “What’s Best for TIBA” as we move forward focusing on continuous improvement, greater participation, and delivering a more inclusive programme for all
Indoor Bowlers.

Some of the areas recently showing positive results are streamlining the Tournament entry process making it more user-friendly; increasing awareness with greater promoting and marketing of our upcoming events; and box drawing the Association Fours and Triples events.

Another new concept your Executive Committee is trialing this year is opening up our “Tauranga Interclub Competition” to non-affiliated bowlers to TIBA. This is a new idea to try and encourage more bowlers to come and
participate, have an enjoyable experience, and encourage them to consider affiliating to TIBA going forward. We believe there remains a large number of current players who are unaffiliated for various reasons, especially in the
Charter Club based adjuncts, who could take advantage of this opportunity and become potential affiliated members in the near future. This trial is only relevant to our Interclub Competition. We need to continue to be more proactive, and continue to evolve moving forward if our game is to survive into the future.

Again, this season we have an extremely competent and experienced Executive Committee prepared to implement change, take on board constructive feedback, and consider new ideas for the betterment of the
game, so please come forward and share your ideas and vision with us.

Your President
