We are busy finalising details for winter training sessions. There have been a few hiccups and hope to have more details in the next couple of weeks. Sorry for the delay! Nonetheless the weekly Kakepuku run series will start this Thursday at 4pm sharp from the carpark.
Winter training typically runs from June through to September and is optional and open to all members (new and existing). To give you an idea of what could be involved – weekly runs up Kakepuku, weekly strength and conditioning sessions, monthly long-distance rows at Karapiro, ergs, Rowing Waikato age group development camps and Sunday training sessions. Dates, times and contact details for the events confirmed or pencilled in are available in our club calendar. If you would like more information please contact those coordinating the session or via teawamuturowing@gmail.com
Anyone interested in participating in some or all of the winter programme must complete an online membership registration form prior to commencing. This will greatly assist us to plan our sessions in advance and to accommodate those attending.
If you are competing in a winter sport (e.g. rugby, soccer, lacrosse or netball) your responsibilities are to your coaches and teams takes priority over rowing. We strongly encourage rowers to take a break and participate in other sports over the winter. Our bodies enjoy variety and using our muscles in different ways encourages overall muscle development and prevents overuse strains and other injuries.
Those new to rowing or are returning to the club after a break are welcome to join in. This is a prime opportunity to learn the basics, develop your fitness without the pressure of racing every fortnight and get to know other members.
As mentioned above, fββββor those wanting to get involved in winter training you will need to complete a Membership Registration Form. If you did not row through the summer the fees are $140 for the period and are payable by mid July.
When you do participate in any of the sessions, please take the time to thank our Coaches, Neville Kemp, Wendy Cudby and Tara Vrenson for helping to make this winter porgramme come together. We are almost there and are looking forward to getting more information to you soon. assisting with the delivery our winter programme this year.
