Te Kawau Pony Club

Welcome to Te Kawau Pony Club. Our branch has a fun family atmosphere where everyone pitches in to make Te Kawau a great pony club to be part of. We foster an environment that allows our riders and parents/supporters to become all round great horse people and fantastic human beings!

Hopefully the information below answers any questions you have. Feel free to contact the President or Head Coach if you would like to know more.

WHERE DO WE HOLD RALLIES? Most of our rallies are held at Pukemarama Farm, Tangimoana Road, thanks to the wonderful generosity of the McKelvie Family. Sometimes we do hold rallies at different venues - see our calendar for more details.

WHEN ARE THE RALLIES? We hold rallies on the second Saturday and fourth Wednesday of the month from July through to May. The rallies are usually 2 hours long and are advertised on the Te Kawau Pony Club Facebook page. Riders must RSVP for rallies before attending.

WHO CAN COME TO THE RALLIES? All members of Rangitikei Pony Club are welcome at our rallies. Those wanting to try out pony club can attend up to three rallies before joining, however they must contact the Head Coach before attending.

WHAT DO WE DO AT OUR RALLIES? The groups usually cover a variety of disciplines at each rally including flatwork, games/games skills, jumping and horse mastership. Sometimes rallies will however just focus on one discipline or activity. See the rally calendar for more details.

WHAT DO I NEED TO WEAR TO A RALLY? See the Uniform tab for this information.

WHAT AGE DO RIDERS NEED TO BE TO ATTEND PONY CLUB? Whilst there is no lower age limit for a rider to join pony club, we recommend that children are preferably at school and/or are able to keep focused and engaged for 1.5 hours. The minimum age is also dependent on the experience of the parent/supporter. The maximum age of a riding members is 25 years old.

HOW DO I JOIN TE KAWAU PONY CLUB? See the Join TKPC tab.

CAN I LEAVE MY CHILD AT PONY CLUB? No you cannot leave your child or children under 18 years of age at pony club. A parent/caregiver for those under 18 years of age must always be in attendance.

IF WE BECOME MEMBERS DO WE NEED TO HELP OUT AT WORKING BEES, RALLIES, CAMPS, FUNDRAISERS ETC..? Short answer - yes! Many hands make light work and Te Kawau Pony Club relies exclusively on it's members to volunteer time and effort towards making our branch a success. All members' families are asked to participate where possible in working bees, fund raisers like XC practice days, and other club activities including external events where we are asked to help out. We also encourage our parents/supporters to upskill by doing coaching and first aid training when it is offered.
