The Club's grounds are at Birchville Park,  just off Emerald Hill Drive in Birchville, Upper Hutt.  Driving north on SH2 from Upper Hutt, turn left into Topaz Street, then left again round the roundabout into Emerald Hill Drive.  The grounds are leased from the Upper Hutt City Council.

NB: The entry gate to Birchville Park is locked by the Council at dusk and re-opened at dawn. Please be aware of this if you're riding in the evening. In the event you do get locked in, call the UHCC and they will arrange for you to be let out.

ARENA AND EQUIPMENT USE

TMHC financial members can use the arena and equipment at any time, except when there are planned lessons or events on. For access to the grounds please contact a Committee member for the gate combination. The secretary is able to advise you if there are any other bookings at the same time.  Normally this is not a problem, but the arena will not be available if there is a group lesson or rally at that time.

RULES: When using the arena or equipment please follow these simple rules:
  • Safety approved helmets must be worn at all times when mounted
  • Remove all manure and hay from the yards, car park area and arena and take it home with you!
  • The gate to the Club Grounds must be closed at all times
  • You may park your vehicle on the gravel car park but please do not tie your horse, ride or park on the grassed areas
  • Stack equipment tidily after use
  • All dogs must be on a lead when riders are using the facilities
  • Make sure the gate and the shed are securely locked before leaving
  • Report any problems, incidents or suggestions to a Committee member
  • The grounds and equipment are for use by TMHC financial members only.  Non-members are not permitted to be mounted on the Grounds at any time, except in limited circumstances for organised instruction/clinics (see below) and with prior authority of the Committee.

USE OF THE ARENA FOR INSTRUCTION/CLINICS
  • Club organised instruction/clinic: lessons are held regularly for members and advertised by email & Facebook. If a non-member wants to attend a lesson, permission must be sought in advance from the Secretary, and may not always be granted. A ground fee will apply to non-members in addition to any lesson fee.
  • Private instruction: You can use the arena for private lessons.  Note: if your instructor chooses to ride your horse during the lesson, they do so at their, and your, own risk.
  • Group instruction/clinic (Members only): You can also organise a group lesson or clinic with a visiting instructor for members. To do this, just contact the Secretary at [email protected] to arrange dates and details
  • Group instruction/clinic (open to non-members): If you want to organise a clinic open to members and non-members, please apply to the Secretary for more information.
