About Teviot Valley Cricket Club
Cricket has a long history in the Teviot Valley, and in 2026 a new chapter began.
After more than 20 years without a senior cricket team based in Roxburgh, the idea of bringing cricket back started the way plenty of good ideas do, over a few beers between mates, remembering the old school days and the cricket they used to play growing up.
What began as a bit of pub chat quickly gained momentum. More players put their hands up, local businesses and supporters got behind the idea, and Teviot Valley Cricket Club was brought back to life for the 2026/27 season.
Competing in South Otago Cricket, our aim is simple: give people from across the Valley the opportunity to play cricket, represent their community, catch up with mates and enjoy the game together.
From the Valley, for the Valley.
Our Home - Roxburgh Sports Ground
Teviot Valley Cricket Club is based at the Roxburgh Sports Ground, the traditional sporting heart of the town.
A major part of bringing senior cricket back has been establishing a new permanent cricket wicket and rebuilding the facilities needed to make the ground a home for cricket once again.
The goal is bigger than just one season. We want to create a ground, team and club that future generations of Teviot Valley cricketers can call their own.
The Teviot Turbines
Our senior side is known as the Teviot Turbines.
The name reflects the Teviot Valley’s strong connection with hydroelectric power, from the schemes that have helped shape the district to the renewable energy projects planned for its future.
It’s a name that represents where we come from: local, energetic and proudly Teviot Valley
