TE WAI REGISTRATIONS (from June to Sept 2026)

The National Tournament is held yearly over Labour Weekend and is officially listed on the NZ Hockey Federation calendar of events.

Where: Gallagher Hockey Centre, 0 Queens Avenue, Frankton, Hamilton 3204

Team Accommodation - own accommodation

Pōwhiri: Friday time TBA

Pō Whakangahau Venue: Sunday TBA

ELIGIBILITY:

Recommended for 16 and over.

TWP players must fund their transport and accommodation.

You must be of Māori descent.
You must be affiliated, reside or whakapapa to our rohe.
Permission must be granted to play another Rohe
All players must be mindful of cultural protocol and adhere to NZMH tikanga and its constitution.

Day 1 - Powhiri - games commence (early start)

Day 2 - Round 1 / 2

Day 3 - Semifinals, Hui (Po whakangahau)

Day 4 - Finals and Awards.

The NZ Māori teams are chosen from the Annual National Māori Hockey Tournament.

EASTER WEEKEND

New Zealand Heritage Hockey was created to support the growth and participation levels in hockey – with a particular focus on underrepresented ethnic groups. Māori, Pasifika and New Zealand Indians.
