NATIONAL MĀORI TOURNAMENT

The National Tournament is held every year over Labour Weekend and is an official listing on the NZ Hockey Federation calendar of events.

REGISTRATIONS OPEN: (May-Sept 2024)

ELIGIBILITY:

Senior Māori Hockey Tournament - R16

TWP players must fund their own transport and accommodation (Marae opt).

You must be of Māori descent.
You must be affiliated, reside or whakapapa to our rohe.
Permission must be granted to play another rohe
All players must be mindful of cultural protocol and adhere to NZMH tikanga and its constitution.

Day 1 - Powhiri - games commence (early start)

Day 2 - Round 1 / 2

Day 3 - Semifinals, Hui (Po whakangahau)

Day 4 - Finals and Awards.

NZ MĀORI REPRESENTATIVES

The teams representing NZ Māori are chosen from the Annual National Māori Hockey Tournament.

EASTER WEEKEND - 29-1 Apr 2024

New Zealand Heritage Hockey was created to support the growth and participation levels in the sport of hockey – with a particular focus on underrepresented ethnic groups. Maori, Pasifika and New Zealand Indians.
