2026 Host: Waikato-Maniapoto

When: Labour Weekend, Fri 23rd to Mon 26th Oct 2026

Where: Gallagher Hockey Centre, 0 Queens Avenue, Frankton, Hamilton 3204

Team Accommodation - To help keep costs affordable for everyone, we are currently seeking accommodation for our wāhine and tāne teams and their whānau. Any support or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Pōwhiri: Friday time TBA

Pō Whakangahau Venue: Sunday TBA As part of the National NZ Māori Hockey Tournament, all eight rohe come together for the Pō Whakangahau, an evening of entertainment, culture, and connection. Each rohe performs kapa haka and waiata, celebrating their people, culture, and rohe pride. It is always a tournament highlight.

Regular online kapa haka practices are essential to our success, helping to keep our teams connected, engaged, and prepared.

No one is an expert, but we are there to support one another, be the best we can be, and have a few laughs along the way. By the time we perform on the night, we all feel incredibly proud of how far we've come and what we've achieved together.


ELIGIBILITY:

Recommended for 16 and over.

TWP players must fund their transport and accommodation.

  • You must be of Māori descent.
  • You must be affiliated, reside or whakapapa to our rohe.
  • Permission must be granted to play another Rohe
  • All players must be mindful of cultural protocol and adhere to NZMH tikanga and its constitution.

Day 1 - Powhiri -  games commence (early start)

Day 2 - Round 1 / 2

Day 3 - Semifinals, Hui (Po whakangahau)

Day 4 - Finals and Awards.


NZ MĀORI REPRESENTATIVES

The NZ Māori teams are chosen from the Annual National Māori Hockey Tournament.

EASTER WEEKEND 

New Zealand Heritage Hockey was created to support growth and participation in hockey, with a particular focus on underrepresented ethnic groups.  Māori, Pasifika and New Zealand Indians.
