PLAYER INFORMATION & EXPECTATIONS 

Being selected to represent Thames Valley Touch is both an opportunity and a responsibility.
Players are expected to represent TVT with pride, respect and commitment, both on and off the field.

PLAYER COMMITMENT 

Representative players are expected to make a genuine commitment to their team and the TVT representative programme.

PLAYERS ARE EXPECTED TO:

  • ​​​​​Attend scheduled training sessions, games, tournaments and representative commitments.
  • Arrive on time and prepared to participate.
  • Communicate respectfully with coaches, managers, teammates, referees and opposition.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, commitment and willingness to learn.
  • Take responsibility for their behaviour, equipment and preparation.
  • Support their teammates and contribute positively to team culture.
  • Follow TVT policies, procedures and reasonable directions from coaches and management.
  • Represent Thames Valley Touch with pride both on and off the field.

PLAYER & WHĀNAU EXPECTATIONS

The TVT representative programme is a partnership between players, whānau, coaches, managers and the Thames Valley Touch Association. A positive experience relies on everyone understanding their role and contributing respectfully.

WHĀNAU ARE EXPECTED TO:

  • Support and encourage players in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Respect coaches, managers, referees, opposition players, officials and other whānau.
  • Encourage good sportsmanship and positive behaviour at training, games and tournaments.
  • Support players to meet their team commitments and arrive prepared and on time.
  • Communicate appropriately with coaches and managers regarding player attendance, wellbeing or other relevant matters.
  • Allow coaches and management to lead the team environment and player development.
  • Avoid sideline behaviour or communication that may negatively affect players, officials or the team environment.
  • Represent Thames Valley Touch positively when attending tournaments, travelling or participating in representative activities.

A SHARED COMMITMENT

We all have a role to play in creating a positive, respectful and supportive representative environment where players can develop, compete and enjoy their experience representing Thames Valley Touch.


AFTER SELECTION — WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Players selected into a Thames Valley Touch representative team will receive confirmation from their respective coach or team management.
Following selection, players and whānau will receive information regarding team training, communication channels, upcoming commitments, tournament information and any required team or player documentation.

TEAM COMMITMENT

Selection into a representative team requires a commitment to the team and the wider TVT programme. Players and whānau should ensure they understand the expected training, tournament and travel commitments before accepting a position.

PLAYER & WHANAU COMMUNICATION

Coaches and team management will provide important team information through the designated communication channels. Players and whānau are expected to monitor these communications and respond to requests or information within the required timeframe.

REPRESENTING TVT

From the moment a player is selected, they become a representative of Thames Valley Touch. Players and whānau are expected to uphold the values and standards of TVT at training, tournaments, while travelling and when engaging with other teams and the wider touch community.
