The Gisborne Tairawhiti Rugby League District stretches down the East Coast covering Ruatoria, Tokomaru Bay, Tolaga Bay and the Gisborne township. Local competitions also include teams from Wairoa. The Gisborne Tairawhiti Rugby League Board are responsible for administrating Rugby League within this district.
