Upper Hutt Athletic Club Inc

The Summer Season is here.

During the Summer, we have our club meets.

Warm ups commence at 5:45pm.

Programmes commence on time from 6.00 - 7:30pm every Wednesday, weather permitting, where we aim to mix fun with competition and coaching.

Activities on club days will cover the range of traditional athletic activities such as sprints,  middle distance running and long jump, high jump, discus and shot put, and where possible hurdles and  race walking.  For 2 weeks we will be doing specific coaching on certain events and on the third week will be our results/competition night.  This will be done on a rotational basis as not all events will be covered each week.

The younger athletes (under 6's)  also enjoy some non-competitive games including the Get Set Go Programme.  These will be under the direct supervision of some of our NZ Athletics Qualified Coaches, older experienced athletes and of course you the parents.

We ask that athletes wear either a club tshirt or singlet on club days.

We also recommend children wear running shoes (or spikes for 10s and over), sunhats and bring warm sweaters/trackpants, sunscreen and a water bottle.

Please note that club uniform (UHAC singlet) and age patch handed out at registration must be worn at all competitions.

In order that the club days run smoothly, parents are required to help out. This is not an onerous task and merely means chaperoning the age group in question from event to event and helping with the recording (where required) of distances or times

A detailed description of the club day tasks will be provided at registration time.

We also offer training for parents in coaching and the basics of recording/officiating of events.

The latter is required as our club will be responsible at Interclubs for an allocated event. Which needs to be staffed by parents of athletes on a rotational basis and supported by a trained official.

As your children remain your responsibility, parents or caregivers are expected to be present in the grounds during club day training sessions.

There will not be any cancellations due to wet weather. We will leave the decsion to participate to parental discretion. A modified programme may be run due to the weather
