Volleyball Otago's 7 week Winter League

Dates:

• 15th June
• 22nd June
• 29th June
• 6th July - NO GAMES
• 13th July - NO GAMES

Venue: Edgar Centre, Dunedin

Cost: $390 per team

Game Duration: 1 hour games with 10 minutes net time.

Game Times: 7:00pm and 8:10pm.

Net Time: There will be 10 minutes for combined net time prior to each game

• 7:00pm round: net time begins at 6:50pm
• 8:10pm round: net time begins at 8:00pm

Team Composition: You can enter as women’s, men’s, or mixed team, however grades will be based on ability - not gender.  For example, women’s and men’s teams of similar skill may compete in the same grade.

Format: 

Weeks 1–5:

• Single round-robin competition, with each team playing every other team once. One team will have a bye each week.
• At the conclusion of the round robin, teams will be ranked from 1st to 5th based on competition points.

Week 6:

• 1st place will receive a bye and progress directly to the final in week 7.
• 2nd place will play 3rd place in a Semi-Final.
• 4th place will play 5th place in a playoff for 5th.

Week 7 (Finals Night):

• The winner of the 5th place playoff will play the loser of the Semi-Final for 3rd Place.
• The winner of the Semi-Final will play the 1st placed team in the Final.
• 5th place will play a friendly against the winner of a final (who will therefore have two games on the final night)

Results: Games will be played as a best of three sets format, with all sets played to 25 points.

• If the game is tied at one set each and time expires during the third set before either team reaches 25 points, the third set will count if at least one team has scored 8 or more points.
• If neither team has reached 8 points when time expires, the winner will be determined by the overall points differential (points scored minus points against) across the first two sets.

Uniforms: Team uniforms are not required. 

Defaults: Any defaults received after 12:00pm on the Friday prior to a Monday game day will incur a $50 fine. Defaults should be sent to operations@volleyballotago.nz.

Refereeing: Volleyball Otago will provide one referee for each game to ref and score the game.
