Derbies light up opening day

The Soccer Shop WaiBOP Premiership, Championship and W-League, like all senior football in the WaiBOP region, gets underway on the weekend of June 13/14.

All three leagues have tasty looking local derby matches that are set to get the competitive juices flowing right from the first kick of the football.

In The Soccer Shop WaiBOP Premiership, Tauranga City host Flying Mullet Papamoa, newly promoted Huntly Thistle venture to nearby Ngaruawahia, while Bulk Lines Otorohanga visit Gisler Architects Te Awamutu in what are sure to be hotly contested fixtures.

West Hamilton United cross the Waikato River for the first inter-Hamilton match at Waikato Unicol, while ninetyblack Taupo welcome Waiariki from Rotorua. The final opening day fixtures sees one of the title-favourites, Otumoetai, cross the Kaimais to play Comag Matamata Swifts.

The seven team Soccer Shop WaiBOP W-League sees three fixtures scheduled for opening day. Papamoa host Bay of Plenty rivals Whakatane Town in the match of the round, Hamilton Wanderers visit Otumoetai and Tauranga City host Waiariki. Melville United has the bye.

The Soccer Shop WaiBOP Championship sees a full bank of six games schedules. The standout fixtures, again, are derbies, as Tauranga Old Blues welcome Otumoetai to Waipuna Park, Claudelands Rovers host Cambridge and promoted Whakatane Town host Te Puke United.

Full draws are available HERE. The Premiership and Championship will both play one full round, followed by a split into top 6, bottom 6.

Further senior draws will be available in the coming days.
