Mission Statement

To provide financial and administrative support to all Wairarapa College sports teams, individuals, Coaches, Managers and administrators in order to develop and maintain the highest level of sporting opportunities and standards.

The Wairarapa College Sports Foundation originally came about early in 2014 after discussions between some parents and staff members of the college. They were so passionate about sport at Wairarapa College that they knew they wanted to do more. After a few discussions and ideas about how to get started, a group of dedicated people put themselves together and became a Charitable Trust.

PRE-SEASON TOURNAMENT:

We have for the past 5 years run a Pre-Season Winter Tournament in the March/April school holidays.  The following codes participate in this event over a 2 day tournament:

Girls and Boys 1st and 2nd XI Hockey

Girls and Boys 1st XI Football

Netball

10s Rugby (1 day)

This is supported by the Wairarapa College Hostel, Poto College House, which accomodates and feeds all our visiting teams.

Through raising funds via this tournament we are able to support our winter tournament teams by helping toward costs to go away on Tournament week.

Our aim is to continue to grow this tournament. It is a fantastic opportunity for coaches to see their potential team in action and for them to make final selection decisions.

It provides a good kick start for our own school teams at the beginning of their winter sport season.

Sports equipment and tools:

With the ongoing support of Trust House we have been chipping away at providing tools and equipment for our Coaches and Managers of all codes and all grades.  The cones, the bibs, the balls all need replacing over time and this is made happen with the support of the Wairarapa College Sports Co-ordinator, Brent Anderson.

We have also registered for a handy coaching tool for all coaches, if you require information on this please contact Brent direct to access this.

Volunteers & new members:

If you would like to join the Wairarapa College Sports Foundation (WCSF) and think that being involved directly in sport within Wairarapa College is something that is passionate to you, then please do not hesitate to contact Paul Adamson (Chairman) at Wairarapa College.  We welcome new members who will bring new ideas and passion to the table. We meet once a month during the school terms.
