WAIHEKE DOLPHINS NETBALL

2026 PLAYER INFORMATION

Thank you for registering your child to play netball with the Waiheke Dolphins in 2026.

Below is some general information about the season to help answer many of the common questions as we get underway.

Practices, Coaches & Managers

Before the season gets underway a committee member or your child’s coach or manager will be in touch to:

• Confirm team placement • Arrange first practices • Confirm practice days and times

We rely on parent support to help coach and manage teams.  No experience is required — support and guidance will be provided.  Please note that teams cannot play without an adult coach or manager.

If you are able to help please reach out to:

Travel

Each week teams travel to the Netball North Harbour courts.

Typical schedule:

• Catch the 3:00pm ferry from Waiheke • Take the NX1 bus to Smales Farm • Walk to the netball courts • Play their game  • Return on approximately the 7:15pm ferry

Parent support is essential for travelling with teams to ensure safe supervision.

Thanks to fundraising and generous donations, we aim to provide free ferry travel for players where possible.

Players will need an AT HOP card for bus travel.

Approximately 90% of fees go directly to Netball North Harbour team registrations.

The remaining costs of running the club are supported through fundraising and grants. These costs include:

• Team kit bags (balls, training bibs etc)• Ferry travel support• Umpire fees• First aid kits• Uniforms and bibs• Prizegiving, player awards and certificates

Fundraising

Our main fundraising activity this year will be team-run sausage sizzles, which help us work towards providing free ferry travel for our teams.

We also hope to run additional club fundraising events similar to the successful Tropical Getaway Raffle that we ran in 2025.

Fundraising ideas or sponsorship opportunities are always welcome.

Uniforms

Uniforms are included in your fees.

Each player will receive:

• Playing dress or playing singlet and shorts• Team jacket

Uniforms must be returned at the end of the season.

Lost or unreturned items may incur a replacement fee.

We will be in touch regarding uniform distribution closer to the start of the season.

Communication

The Club has a WhatsApp Community set up to communicate at a Team and Club level. Club Coordinators will get these set up and invitations out to all parents prior to the season commencing.  This is where your team manager, coach or coordinator will share weekly updates and travel information.

If you have any questions that your team coach or manager cannot answer, please contact the relevant club coordinator:

Junior Coordinator (Years 4–6) Chantal – 022 602 2029

Intermediate Coordinator (Years 7–8) Larissa – 021 184 0090

Please note that Netball North Harbour asks parents not to contact them directly regarding club games. Queries should go through our club coordinators.

Weather & Game Cancellations

Netball games generally continue in almost all weather conditions — rain or shine.

Netball North Harbour will usually only cancel games if there is lightning.

As a club travelling from Waiheke, we also consider ferry travel and safety conditions. If weather or travel conditions require a cancellation, the club will make that decision with player safety as the top priority.

Your coach or manager will communicate any updates on game days.

Coaching Clinics & Holiday Programmes

Netball North Harbour runs excellent coaching clinics, school holiday programmes and tournaments, which are great opportunities for players to develop their skills and meet other players.
