An historical account of the Waikawa Boating Club, 1950-2017, has been painstakingly pulled together by Tony Fitzgerald with generous contributions to publish 240 pages of the club’s history.
From the origins of a 1949 New Year race day, the club was formed an initial meeting on 15 January 1949. The creation of the burgee and being first flown in 1962. Opening the club in 1989 and all the characters and dramas that flowed through until 2017.
The stories in the book add life to the trophies that fill the club cabinet and the photos that are dotted around the walls. You’ll even see some familiar faces in the book which will add a bit of colour to these people the next time you run into them.
