History of the Cricket Club
The Marist Brothers started the cricket club in 1945. Sadly the club went into recess in 1960. The club came back to the Wairarapa Cricket Association competitons in 1986. The club featured a third grade team for three years before being granted permission to enter a team into the Senior 1st competition, Mike Pawson and Peter Ryder were the known players in that side.
In 1990 Marist amalgamated with Masterton Old Boys, becoming Marist Old Boys which proved successful when Marist Old Boys Senior 1sts won the Bidwell Cup. Over the years the club boasted 4 - 5 teams in various men's competitions. The club had been granted permission to play Senior 1st cricket in 2012 for the first time in 12 years as well as fielding a 2nd side in the Open Grade competition.
A artificial cricket pitch spent many a day in between the two rugby fields before being pulled up and stored away in the Marist clubrooms.

Families have come and gone through the club with names such as the Greenlees, Tauchers, Macdonalds and Pullmans and probably Marist Cricket Clubs most famous family name the Calkins with Marc being the most sucessful but at one time their were five Calkins playing senior cricket led by their father Bruce. From 2009-2014 the Howie family played a hugh role in restoring the club. Marcus played his part as Club captain with father Graham serving on the club committee, club patron,a key sponsor and also featured inteams at the age of 64. Brothers TJ and Sammy Howie also played in the sides over the years. Marcus captained the first Marist team to the one day title in 2011 and TJ was part of that succeful team.

The club unfortunately went into recess after the 2013/14 season but is active again as of the 2016/17 season. The rejuvenation of the club has been the brain child of the Pullman brothers (Greg and Keith), along with other key people making the club an attractive community organisation for people to get involved in. Fast forward to 2019 and the club is rebuilding with to mens teams and three junior teams. Also at the 2019 AGM the club decided to drop the old boys name and long live Marist Masterton.

The club is proud of it's family culture and the belief that everyone deserves a fair go with their cricket aspirations.
