ABOUT WELLINGTON PONY CLUB (WPC)

WPC has two branches Onslow and Makara. The branches are responsible for rallies, holding showjumping/showhunter competitions, gymkhanas and mounted games.

WPC is responsible for entering teams in various North Island or regional competitions and nominating representatives for selection for Area Teams to National Championships.

WPC sends teams/riders annually to the North Island Show Hunter Champs, Ally Todd Swimming Dressage Team Trophy, North Island Show Jumping Champs, North Island Teams Event at Timberlands, and North Island Teams Training Eventing (Wairarapa).

Nominated WPC representatives compete in Area Horse Trials for NZPCA HT Champs, Area Dressage Trial for NZPCA Dressage Champs, and for places in the H.O.Y. Show Jumping Team.

Battle Hill Eventing Inc. (BHEI) is run by the branches of Wellington Pony Club , Pauatahanui and Hutt Valley Pony Clubs. It is responsible for hosting spring and autumn One Day Events (ODEs), a branch teams ODE, and training at Battle Hill Regional Park, at Pauatahanui. BHEI is primarily run by volunteers from the branches and is heavily reliant on each branch contributing labour, not only on the event days, but also at working bees and in the preparation for the events.

WPC is one of three Clubs that form the Wairarapa/Wellington Area (WW), which is one of the 16 Areas which form the NZ Pony Clubs Association. WW is responsible for teams attending national competitions, specifically the NZPCA Dressage Teams Champs, for which the Area Dressage Trial is the W/W qualifying competition, the NZPCA Horse Trials Teams Champs, for which Area Horse Trials are the W/W qualifying competitions and the HOY Showjumping team for which W/W are to advise the selection process due to this being a new competition.

WPC organises and provides substantial coaching for this, as well as Pre and At Event coaching for Wellington team representatives through the season, should funding allow.
