Softball for Life

The Whangarei Evergreens Men proudly represent the Whangarei Softball Association at the annual New Zealand Men's Evergreens Softball Tournament, bringing together players aged 35 years and over from clubs throughout our Association.

The Evergreens programme is a celebration of lifelong participation in softball. It provides an opportunity for players to continue competing at a high level while reconnecting with teammates, renewing old friendships, and creating new memories. While every player comes from a different club within Whangarei, they unite each year under one banner—the Whangarei Falcons.

Our Identity

The Whangarei Falcons uniform proudly features the pūhoro, symbolising movement, strength, and purpose.

For our team, the pūhoro represents that we are people of wai māori, children of Tangaroa, always moving forward, embracing new challenges, and striving to achieve new goals. It also symbolises whānau, reminding us that we carry the support of our families, clubs, communities, and whakapapa every time we step onto the diamond.

Our uniform is more than just a playing strip—it tells the story of who we are and the pride we have in representing Whangarei.

61st New Zealand Men's Evergreens Softball Tournament

In February 2026, the Whangarei Evergreens Men proudly travelled to Fraser Park, Lower Hutt, to compete in the 61st New Zealand Men's Evergreens Softball Tournament, hosted by Syd Budge, the Hutt Valley Evergreens, and the Hutt Valley Softball Association.

The tournament brought together Evergreens teams from across Aotearoa, celebrating not only competitive softball but also the friendships and camaraderie that have been built over many years within the sport.

Representing Whangarei with pride, the Falcons competed with determination, sportsmanship, and respect—values that continue to define our Association both on and off the diamond. Beyond the games, the tournament provided an opportunity to reconnect with lifelong friends, meet new people, and strengthen the relationships that make the Evergreens community so unique.
